Thanks for all your updates on this page just curious as to why this section is needed? The rep section is mean't for those that have appeared in a rep game not players that have been named but then not played. If you include this section you are making a rod for your own back because you then have to include any player that has ever been withdrawn from a rep game for whatever reason. Yes that is a better spot for it because that section is mean't for "news" type items and details. Also just a tip when adding links to other pages in a section, you only need to link the very first reference. After that they are not required otherwise the article looks too busy and you lose the effect of the link. Anderch (talk)

Geelong blue

Hey there. Just reaching out regarding the colours at the Geelong templates; the shade of blue (#00275C) that I changed the templates to was ripped straight from the logo currently at the club article (which is what I did for the other clubs as well, if they were slightly different at the time) – this was the website that I used to do it. I checked the colour at the club website as well, and it produced #002245. So yeah, not at all trying to dispute what you're saying about the club's constitution, but if true, then there are definitely inconsistencies/the club itself doesn't seem to be adhering to it; but yeah, was only trying to match the pre-existing image on Wikipedia, if that makes sense. 4TheWynne (talk • contribs) 15:00, 11 December 2025 (UTC)

All good! The club logo being the wrong shade of blue compared the colour listed in the club constitution is one of those silly little quirks. Was wondering if it was easy enough to make all the IN5-13 position names fully customisable really? Would enable the current NRL six-man benches to be inputted as IN for the four players used, and the reserve/replacements noted accordingly. The NRL are now calling players 18 and 19 reserves and they get changed to "replacement" if they come into the match as a concussion/injury sub. So ideally, we'd want players 14-19 customisable as one of those three options "interchange/reserve/replacement" without breaking the previously used concussion sub designation. 14 to 17 are always interchange, "bench", "replacement" are jargon. 18, 19 are concussion subs but if the NRL are using reserve then fair enough we can look at that, although I'd like to see some examples which are not press reports where reserve is being used to see that we're not just using press jargon. Anything 20+, other than some sort of exhibition match, I'm struggling to see how that get on as neither the NRL or RFL rules (currently) allow for extra players to be brought into the 18 (RFL) or 19 (NRL) named before the game. As far as I can tell only 18 is ever concussion sub, 19 is a reserve who does nothing (a bit of a waste imo) and can't come on under any circumstances even if the team lose a 2nd player due to foul play. So I had it wrong, some digging around and I got hold of a friend of a friend who works on NRL coverage for nine.com. So my understanding is now

1. a 19-player squad is named. Before kick off the 13 starters are named.
2. The other six are all on the bench but only four can go on. Once four have gone on then the other two are sitting the game out (reserves?) unless
3. if a concussion sub is needed, then one of the remaining two can go on.
4. at the end of the game, there will be one or two unused players.

Does this agree with your understanding?

If so then if you want to go down the line of labelling unused players out of the six as reserves then

1. we need to make 14 to 19 all markable as reserves where reserve means unused (or shall we stick with unused?)
2. 18 can be labelled as CS if used as such or reserve if unused
3. 19 becomes as default marked as reserve

Those aren't so difficult. What might be more messy is allowing the template to show different positions for the same position number. For example last weeks Roosters v Sharks game would have "Interchange/Reserve" for IN2 and "Reserve/Interchange" for IN5 due to who was and wasn't playing.

If we do this then I'm going to leave interchange as the default for 14–17 as CS as the default for 18 for backwards compatibility. Is that ok with you? Nthep (talk)

yeah that's goal — leave 14-17 as is — in practice if #18 and #19 move up into the interchange positions, then those in the 14-17 positions drop down so you would end up something akin to:

• 14. Old Mate Interchange/IN
• 17. Some Guy Interchange/IN
• 18. This Champ Interchange/IN
• 19. Young Legs Interchange/IN
• 15. Lucky Togetagame Reserve/RES
• 16. Notso Needed Reserve/RES

But if one of those reserves was required then they become Concussion substitute/CS (although in the current NRL lexicon they would be marked as Replacement/REP)

Effectively if we have titleIN5 to be Interchange (for exhibition matches etc) or secondary option of CS, but able to be modified where appropriate, that might be optimal. titleIN6 and beyond could remain as Interchange with Reserve as the secondary option.

In a perfect template:

1. titleIN_1–4 would be IN as default
2. titleIN₅ would be IN as default, CS as secondary, RES as tertiary
3. titleIN_6–13 would be IN as default, RES as secondary.

You can actually do 1 & 2 already. The template let's you define titleIN1-5, you just won't get an automatic link, but you can insert one.
