SDZeroBot

[edit]

Hi. I am not sure if the bot is working properly. I nominated a merger, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/New England–style hot dog bun via Twinkle. Twinkle worked perfectly to a point. It raised all the necessary bits, including raising it on User:TimothyDexter talk page informing them of the merger. However, 5 hrs later, the bot raised a notice on the user talk page, but instead of saying merger it says deletion. With the changes to AFD, and the merger process moving across, the bot looks like it needs to be updated, or it will confuse editors. Davidstewartharvey (talk) 05:25, 14 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Just came here to say the same. :) – robertsky (talk) 14:03, 14 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I've fixed it so that it avoids sending a notification if the user was already notified of the merger discussion. – SD0001 (talk) 17:28, 14 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sorry. I just realised that I have left out a detail. in my case, the notification for deletion was sent to me because I was a significant contributor to the article. But it was a surprise that the discussion was about a merge. Discussion at User talk:SDZeroBot § Necessary update following PAM merger

[edit]

You are invited to join the discussion at User talk:SDZeroBot § Necessary update following PAM merger. I noticed I've never actually messaged you at your own talk page about it. Since it's one of the remaining open issues at Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/to do that needs to be fixed to help fully carry out the PAM-AfD merger, I'd like like to hear what you think could be done. Thanks! FaviFake (talk) 15:13, 2 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

I just noticed that two other people above noticed the same issue on their own! I've pinged them in this discussion. FaviFake (talk) 15:17, 2 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Twinkle

[edit]

Hi, I am from Bangla Wikipedia (bnwiki). We are using a very old version of Twinkle. We would like to implement this on bnwiki. If possible, could you please help, could you provide the code block and let me know where I should add it in the bnwiki's existing code? আফতাবুজ্জামান (talk) 02:03, 6 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

You should replace the entire portlet generation code (Twinkle.addPortlet) with the new version. – SD0001 (talk) 04:10, 6 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Here is a test edit. Is this correct?
I just wanted to make sure: the entire Twinkle codebase on bnwiki, including the other code that Twinkle depends on, is old. Is replacing just Twinkle.addPortlet enough, or do I need to update other parts for compatibility as well? আফতাবুজ্জামান (talk) 09:34, 6 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
That should work. If it doesn't, you should get some errors in the JS console which will help figuring out the next steps. – SD0001 (talk) 09:52, 6 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
