Ohio Attack AfD
[edit]Hi there! I wanted to ping you on your talk page. Thanks for joining Wikipedia, it seems that you're very interested in becoming a part of this project. I really appreciate your thoroughness at the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2016 Ohio restaurant machete attack AfD, but I wanted to give you a heads up about frequent replying in AfD discussions (or others, but this comes up most often in AfD). It's called Bludgeoning. You can read through the article about it, I think it's really helpful. When I first started doing AfDs, especially as a nominator, I would get really excited and try to respond to every point of every comment that didn't 100% agree with me. But it's helpful to take a step back and let other users come in and have time to digest the conversation; there's a reason these debates last a minimum of 7 days. If consensus is trending your way, other users will reply to comments that you may feel inclined to. If consensus is going another direction, over-commenting can be viewed as un-civil and just generally distracting to the objective of an AfD. To be clear, I don't think you're doing that right now, and I would incline to cut you some slack seeing as you are new to the site (and AfDs), but I wanted to give you a heads up.
Thanks! Yojo98 (talk) 18:36, 10 July 2026 (UTC)

Page move
[edit]
Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved, as you did to Palestinian traditional costumes, without good reason. They should have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name does not follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. 2kbfloppadisk (talk) 10:49, 18 July 2026 (UTC)
- @2kbfloppadisk: Why have you warned me, nothing that I did was inappropriate. You haven't reverted my move either. HerrHeulsuse (talk) 10:52, 18 July 2026 (UTC)
- Not a warning! I just saw that you were relatively new here and wanted to let you know that we have a convention we follow when moving pages. I did not revert it because I don't think your move was inappropriate, I just wanted to make sure you were familiar with the conventions. 2kbfloppadisk (talk) 12:19, 18 July 2026 (UTC)
- Oh sorry, I checked the source of the page and it said that it was a warning template. Thank you for informing me of the conventions, have a nice day. HerrHeulsuse (talk) 12:57, 19 July 2026 (UTC)

DCWC August update
[edit]The 2026 Developing Countries WikiContest has been running for a month now, so let's check in with the competition so far!
As of the time of writing, our top contestants are:
Vanderwaalforces (submissions) ahead of the pack with 715 points, with two FAs and many GAs on the monarchs of the Kingdom of Benin;- Simongraham (submissions) with 291 points, mostly with GAs on jumping spiders, alongside various GAN and FAC reviews;
- Jaguarnik (submissions) with 240 points, mostly from an FA on the 1945 film Ivan the Terrible;
Grnrchst (submissions) with 215 points, mostly from GAs on anarchist history in various countries, alongside many GA reviews, and;
Vestrian24Bio (submissions) tied for 4th with 215 points, with an FL and four GAs on Indian cricket!
These competitors are in the lead, but if past experience is any indication, big shake-ups might still await us in the contest. If you're looking for a way to boost your position, we got a table of review requests from fellow participants—you can rack up a lot of points through reviews, and it might just convince others to review your own nominations! You can also look through the eligible reviews page to find other articles to review, with highlights for articles eligible for the 1.5× multiplier. The coordinators would like to thank Jaguarnik (submissions) for his work to keep this page up to date.
Thank you so much for all your work in the contest so far, dear participants, and keep on the good fight against systemic bias on our wiki! Have any questions? Leave a message on the contest talk page or send it to one of our wonderful coordinators: Arconning (talk · contribs), Generalissima (talk · contribs), Magentic Manifestations (talk · contribs), sawyer777 (talk · contribs), and TechnoSquirrel69 (talk · contribs). Kindly withdraw your AfDs
[edit]- IMPORTANT NOTICE: I have now spent many hours updating, expanding and making full articles of all three article History of the Jews in East Africa, History of the Jews in North Africa, History of the Jews in Southern Africa, plus I also created and added History of the Jews in Central Africa that should satisfy all the detractors thus far. This AfD should be withdrawn based on these facts. Thank you, IZAK (talk) 04:22, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
- No, those pages seem to be original synthesis. I looked at the Central and East Africa pages, and I could not find a source that discusses the entirety of east/central africa, only certain countries. HerrHeulsuse (talk) 10:29, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
- How are they "original synthesis" as they are all based on the original WP articles. The countries make up the region/s or vice versa the region/s consist of the countries. What in heaven's name are you thinking and talking about? IZAK (talk) 19:55, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
- This can easily be seen as Wikipedia:Canvassing, and it is inappropriate. LPHaddleburg (talk) 00:28, 11 August 2026 (UTC)

- @LPHaddleburg: This is not canvassing. It is a direct discussion between me and the nominator of an AfD asking him to withdraw his AfD after I had improved the article/s in question. IZAK (talk) 02:11, 11 August 2026 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for August 7
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Yemen, a link pointing to the disambiguation page Afro-Yemenis was added. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Request to nominate an article for deletion
[edit]Hi. I found this article called List of countries by median years of schooling. There is only one citation for the article, and the link is also broken. I don't know how to nominate an article for deletion. Can you do it for me? Thanks. इतनी सी बात ना जाना (talk) 15:44, 11 August 2026 (UTC)
- Hello @इतनी सी बात ना जाना:, please download WP:TWINKLE and read WP:AFD. I cannot do this for you because it might be considered WP:CANVAS HerrHeulsuse (talk) 15:52, 11 August 2026 (UTC)
I have removed the {{proposed deletion/dated}} tag from 2003 Baghdad DHL attempted shootdown incident, which you proposed for deletion. This was not an everyday occurrence, the article has reasonable sources and the event looks like it would be notable. If you still think this article should be deleted, please do not add {{proposed deletion}} back to the page. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! Speedy deletion nomination declined: Global University
[edit]Hello, HerrHeulsuse. Speedy deletion work is important and I do appreciate the effort. I would just ask that you please review the criteria carefully because accuracy is also important. On that issue, I have declined your speedy deletion nomination of Global University as an article that does not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the topic under CSD A7. That criterion did not apply because educational institutions are not eligible. You can propose the page for deletion if it appears to be an uncontroversial matter, or take the page to articles for deletion for discussion on the merits if you still seek deletion. Thank you. Bobby Cohn 🍁 (talk) 17:19, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you Mr. Cohn, I was just experimenting with the CSD deletion function to see what qualifies and what doesn't. HerrHeulsuse (talk) 10:06, 13 August 2026 (UTC)
Speedy deletion contested: Lexicon (role-playing game)
[edit]Hello HerrHeulsuse. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Lexicon (role-playing game), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not a company, corporation or organization. Ineligible for A7. Thank you. BangJan1999 18:35, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
