I am a new contributor from Cameroon and a member of African Wiki Women and Wiki Mentor Africa. I am affected by the 129.0.0.0/16 range block. I am not involved in spam and would like IP block exemption so I can contribute constructively. Thank you.

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to Pearl Esua-Mensah when you modified the page, you introduced unknown parameters. Just because you specify |some_param=some_variable does not always mean that variable will display. The |some_param= must be defined in the template. You can look at the documentation for the template you are using but it is also helpful to use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. Note I have likely fixed the error by now so check the history of the page to see how it was fixed. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance.

Disambiguation link notification for May 23
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Valerie Neim, a link pointing to the disambiguation page Cameroonian was added. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 22:14, 23 May 2026 (UTC)
- How do I get to fix this problem, because I am unable to access the article anymore to remove this link.

- Your concern now is addressing your connection to the other blocked account. --Yamla (talk) 10:38, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
Blocked
[edit]Please explain your connection to blocked spammer, Leila237, who in turn was operating from an IP address blocked for spam. I see a direct connection in the usernames and we know you, too, were operating from an IP address blocked for spam, and editing the same article as Leila237. --Yamla (talk) 10:20, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
- Hello @Yamla. @Leila237 is not a sockpuppet account of mine. She is a new contributor I onboarded during the Mboa campaign as part of community outreach and editor support for new participants.
- We worked on similar topics because I was helping her go through what she has done so we do a good job. Also, the campaign often contribute to related Cameroon-related articles. My interaction with her has been limited to mentorship/onboarding support for editing Wikimedia projects.
- Regarding the IP issue, many users in Cameroon may share mobile or ISP-assigned IP ranges, which can sometimes overlap with previously blocked addresses. I am happy to cooperate further and clarify any specific concerns. Essa237 (talk) 10:40, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
- Why did you both use "237" in your usernames? Were you both operating from the same IP address? From the same device? Where did you declare your connection to that user? --Yamla (talk) 11:19, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
- Hello @Yamla. The use of “237” in the usernames is not intended to indicate account connection or coordinated abuse. “237” is widely used by many Cameroonians online because it is Cameroon’s international country code, so it is common in usernames.
- To my knowledge, we were not editing from the same device. Regarding IP addresses, it is possible for contributors in Cameroon to appear under similar or shared ISP/mobile network ranges, especially with mobile data providers and shared connections.
- My connection to the user is that I onboarded her as a new contributor participating in the Mboa campaign. I did not formally declare that relationship because I did not consider it an off-wiki relationship requiring disclosure beyond normal mentorship and campaign support. Essa237 (talk) 11:36, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
- Okay, I'm willing to lift the block if you are willing to ensure the connections between accounts are publicly declared (such as on your user page and on the user pages of the associated editors). I will note that the WP:CHECKUSER data shows likely different devices, but a close connection on IP addresses. This could be explained by the two of you working from the same location, which is more than you indicated above, but I'm willing to chalk this up to "yeah, that's what I meant, even if I didn't say it." For the record, I would also unblock Leila237 and appreciate you clarifying the 237 concern. --Yamla (talk) 11:46, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for the clarification and for being willing to reconsider the block.@Yamla
- I understand the concern better now. I will publicly clarify the connection on my user page and wisht to advise the other @Leila237 to do the same. The relationship is limited to campaign/community onboarding and editing support connected to the Mboa campaign.
- I do not know if that will be enough and I will wish you verify if I am doing the right thing.
- @Leila237 will not be able to do same since she is currently blocked.
- I appreciate the opportunity to clarify the situation and will make sure the appropriate disclosures are added.
- Should I equally do same for other contribuitors Essa237 (talk) 12:06, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
- Hello. I have now added the disclosure to my user page and informed @Leila237 to do the same. Thank you again for the clarification and assistance.

- All contributors should do the same. I have lifted your block and the block on the other account. Thanks for clearing things up and for committing to disclose the connected editors. Welcome back and happy editing! --Yamla (talk) 12:10, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
