Request for expertise in peer review
I noticed your contribution of a journal preprint of Green children of Woolpit in Wikipedia:WikiJournal article nominations. I and TeenAngels1234 are working on a future featured article candidate and WikiJournal article nomination, Rei Ayanami. I believe that it is relevant to the WikiJournal of Humanities, so I worked on improving the academic rigor of the article (and therefore the future journal manuscript). I am wondering if you can provide your expertise whether the article is considered scientifically sound and current per the WikiJournal criteria for inclusion. We have an ongoing peer review happening at Wikipedia:Peer review/Rei Ayanami/archive2. I understand if you are busy, but I appreciate your assistance. In return, I am wondering if you would like me to provide feedback on WikiJournal Preprints/Green children of Woolpit in Wikiversity. Z. Patterson (talk) 12:28, 23 July 2026 (UTC)
Close a move request?
Hello. Long time no see. We may have edited some of the same pages a long time ago. In any case, I created a move request in error. I am wondering if you can close it for me. I would do it myself but the closer guidelines say that if I opened it then I should not close it. The move request is at Talk:Suicide by firearm. It is the first thing on the talk page. You will be able to see why or how it is malformed. Let me know if you can't do this. Regards, ---Steve Quinn (talk) 09:42, 31 July 2026 (UTC)
- Hey, no problem--I took care of it. Srsly I think that in a case like this you can do it yourself; who would object to it? Take care, Drmies (talk) 15:56, 31 July 2026 (UTC)

GPTZero suggests that the article The Byzantine - A Novel was 100% AI generated and it was moved to main space without going through the WP:AFC process, LLM templates have been persistently removed. Tried to move it back to draft but a redirect is blocking it. Theroadislong (talk) 19:19, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
- It's promotional nonsense with poor references that are also misrepresented. Let me see about the redirect. Drmies (talk) 19:25, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
Serious situation
Thanks for your kind words at one of my (many) IPs! Now, if you want to give your two cents here (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:GiantSnowman#User:Assaf_Official), i'd really appreciate it, edit war seems afoot because i'm apparently casting pearls before swine here...
Take care, cheers! RevampedEditor (talk) 23:03, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
- Haha, same as always: chill out! The caps, the exclamation points... As always I'm looking out for you. Always learning! Hey, good to see you again. I saw your man Luis Figo on the news a few days ago. He still has a nice head of hair. I always enjoyed watching him play. Drmies (talk) 15:21, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
- Yes, aged 53 as i am! But he's not "my man", in spite of my field of editing if i idolised anyone it would be writers or other artists, not these entitled prima donnas.
- More cheers! RevampedEditor (talk) 18:08, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
The TRUTH!
This complaint honestly amused me! :D Nice to see you're still around, Drmies. Acalamari 04:35, 8 August 2026 (UTC)
- Late to the party, but I chipped my 2c in before it's too late. Hey, how are you doing? I must improve another article to GA before the year ends.... Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 09:09, 8 August 2026 (UTC)
- Haha thanks to you both. Yes, Ritchie, get on it!!! Need a hand? Drmies (talk) 18:58, 8 August 2026 (UTC)

EBSCOhost
I can't promise anything, but I can try and help with EBSCOhost. What is it you're trying to achieve? Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 15:45, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
- SunloungerFrog, hey! Thanks! OK--what I want is to look through the issue of El Pais for 15 October 2021--I want to see a list of all the articles. Even with the advanced search I am not able to do it. Drmies (talk) 15:46, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
- Now I'm doubting that it's archived by EBSCO, though when I searched earlier I thought I saw hits for El Pais as a Journal Title... Drmies (talk) 15:53, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
- I don't think it is archived by EBSCO, at least in our subscription. But I think you can get it through Proquest: try
- SunloungerFrog (talk) 16:05, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
- Aaaah unfortunately it seems my university has ProQuest Lite, just like we have JSTOR Lite... Thanks... Drmies (talk) 16:06, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
- I got there through TWL, which you must be eligible for. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 16:07, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
- Ooooh yeah!!! Thanks! Drmies (talk) 16:10, 12 August 2026 (UTC)

- Or maybe browse from https://www.proquest.com/publicationbrowse/ - it is hopefully somewhat intuitive. There are a bunch of different editions of El País included. Let me know how you get on. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 16:06, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
Might need a TP block on this one too. I suspect socking, but wouldn't have the foggiest who the master is. ChompyTheGogoat (talk) 16:35, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
- They're actually starting to sound familiar, but my memory is terrible haha. Drmies (talk) 20:32, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
- No idea, but hopefully SPI puts it to bed. Talk about obsessed! ChompyTheGogoat (talk) 20:37, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
- Do you remember anything more about the account it was moved under (User:Higstudios3333)? Per the history it was initially blocked under Wikipedia:Long-term abuse/Timelash, then reversed, then re-blocked for socking with no linked account/SPI. User:Hegsfhd is also blocked under Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Son of Zorn/Archive, which might be a coincidence - or it might not (as I ran across that during my digging). There was also a reversed autoblock related to a vandal TA, but I'm not seeing vandalism on the named accounts - certainly nothing like the recent spree, although there is some curious crossover in their edits.
- There might be behind the scenes evidence explaining it all, but what's visible publicly is just confusing me. ChompyTheGogoat (talk) 21:29, 13 August 2026 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) You will find a bit of information, and a path to follow, at User_talk:Zzuuzz#Higstudios3333. We haven't bothered to document much of it, because, well, it's just another troll. -- zzuuzz (talk) 21:43, 13 August 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks - that's about the sense I got from what I found, but I wasn't sure whether there was a bigger picture I was missing or just a "block everything and move on" situation. There were a few suppressed edits here and there that might make things more obvious too. ChompyTheGogoat (talk) 21:53, 13 August 2026 (UTC)
- Also, some of the potential louting is related to Timelash, so there might be some connection of some sort. Shared hobby? Trolls are weird. ChompyTheGogoat (talk) 21:54, 13 August 2026 (UTC)
- Weird indeed. I can't really comment on the specifics without knowing what you're referring to, and then as a checkuser and TAIV probably couldn't comment anyway. I'll just say that Timelash normally logs in, and there are many impostors in this arena. A troll is a troll is a troll. WP:BRI. -- zzuuzz (talk) 21:59, 13 August 2026 (UTC)
- I didn't bother attempting to TAIV the TAs to each other. It's all circumstantial, just sus. I'm mostly just trying to get better at recognizing patterns of repeat offenders so they can be shut down quickly, and good record keeping (to the extent possible) helps with that. ChompyTheGogoat (talk) 22:05, 13 August 2026 (UTC)
- zzuuzz, this is just to say I'm so thankful for your continued work in this area, for which one rarely gets the credit one deserves--and most of it is never public of course. Thanks. Drmies (talk) 14:49, 14 August 2026 (UTC)

Appreciation
Thank you @Drmies, for improving Toyin Ajao article. Massive appreciation. May I ask why you removed the selected publication part? Did it not meet Wikipedia's standards? Also, I will appreciate if you can take a look at other articles I created recently to help improve them, if you have the time. Thank you. SyzygyRebel (talk) 20:32, 13 August 2026 (UTC)
- @Drmies, please scratch my question on selected publications, I have seen your comments. Thanks for improving the article. I have so much to learn. SyzygyRebel (talk) 23:04, 13 August 2026 (UTC)
- @Drmies, I am back again.🤗
- Kindly guide my steps. Based on the comment you left on the publications deleted, does this mean for all the articles I have created, I must remove any publications that were not monographs, or edited or co-edited? Are book chapters, and journal articles not allowed? I would appreciate if you can share more with me on this front. Massive appreciation. SyzygyRebel (talk) 13:54, 14 August 2026 (UTC)
- I believe one should not list book chapters and articles, and I'll tell you why. (I'm not alone.) If we do, then for some, esp. in the sciences, there will be hundreds of articles, and there would be no reason to exclude conference presentations or posters--imagine what those articles would look like. Books (monographs and collections edited by the subject) are an entirely different matter, because one can expect those books to have received scholarly reviews--that is not the case for articles, of course. And frequently those reviews are the proof that someone meets the very first requirement of WP:NACADEMIC: "The person's research has had a significant impact in their scholarly discipline, broadly construed, as demonstrated by independent reliable sources." Now if someone publishes an article and secondary sources discuss that article, sure--but that's an exception. What we need to do is not turn Wikpedia into LinkedIn. Others disagree, and go with "selected articles" or something like that, but the problem there is there are typically no selection criteria, and the h-factor doesn't help there because that's not part of the citation, and h-factors themselves are problematic. Does that make sense? Drmies (talk) 14:46, 14 August 2026 (UTC)
- This is very helpful. I have come across numerous biographies where, alongside monographs and edited or co-edited volumes, selected journal articles and book chapters are also included. I am sensing that there are also preferred practices from one Wikipedian to another, hence my use of "Selected publications" which I had mirrored from other biographies.
- I will go through the WP:NACADEMIC guidance you shared to learn more. Are there also criteria or guidance for including non-academic pieces, or are those generally not appropriate for a publications section? SyzygyRebel (talk) 11:26, 15 August 2026 (UTC)
