Mapframe questions
[edit]Hi! I reverted your edit on Sibelius Monument. But, I thought it would be nicer to engage directly with you on the matter of mapframe. What I was attempting to do was to use the module workaround to achieve a better rendering in terms of aesthetics. I didn't think there was anything wrong with using module inside this template, given it doesn't natively read mapframe parameters, and the module solution allows the map to zoom out and show more of the city (including "Helsinki" label), as well as to make map same width as image (which just looks cleaner). Perhaps you could kindly explain to me the problem? Or even better, use your expertise to teach me how to better achieve what I seek, via alternative code? Thanks ~ Silence of Järvenpää 17:14, 12 July 2026 (UTC)
- @Silence of Järvenpää: What attracted me to the article was that it had two identical
{{coord}}templates at the top, which made it show up in a maintenance category I monitor, Category:Pages with malformed coordinate tags, since an article can have only one template calling for coordinates in the title position. The problem was that I was moving one of the{{coord}}templates into the infobox, and that produced two mapframe maps in the infobox—the default one and the module one. (That's why I deleted the module field. The default mapframe can also be zoomed out or in when it's expanded.) If you prefer the module mapframe, that's fine with me, but I'm going to tweak the coordinates slightly and move the template to the bottom of the article, which is the usual position for it when it's not in an infobox.
