[edit source]Dear my mentor, I am overjoyed to announce that I have completed my initial edit. --CaydenStorm (talk) 00:11, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
- Congratulations on completing your first edit! 🎉 That's a great milestone. Keep up the good work, and don't hesitate to ask if you need any help or have questions as you continue editing. I look forward to seeing your future contributions. Ampimd (talk) 08:00, 20 June 2026 (UTC)
Question from AdityaKadam10 (04:36, 1 June 2026)
[edit source]Hello , how can i add a paragraph in an article without promoting something. Coz on my first article tge paragraph i added got taken down. --AdityaKadam10 (talk) 04:36, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
- Hello Aditya,
- A good way to avoid promotional content is to ensure that any paragraph you add is written in a neutral tone and supported by reliable, independent sources. Try to focus on factual information rather than highlighting achievements, benefits, or positive qualities.
- If your paragraph was removed, it may have been because it sounded promotional, lacked reliable sources, or was not considered relevant to the article. Feel free to share the article name or the text you added, and I can help explain why it may have been removed and how you could improve it. Ampimd (talk) 08:01, 20 June 2026 (UTC)
Question from AntiqueLesbo (05:01, 3 June 2026)
[edit source]Hi there! I made some edits to a page titled "Pride celebrations in the United States," but it isn't attributing those edits to my account? I made those edits before I made an account, so that's probably why, but I was wondering if there was some way to fix that tiny issue. Thanks!! --AntiqueLesbo (talk) 05:01, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
- Hello AntiqueLesbo,
- Yes, that is expected. Edits made before you created your account are recorded under the IP address that was used at the time, not under your newly created username. Unfortunately, it is not possible to retroactively reassign those edits to your account.
- Going forward, any edits you make while logged in will be attributed to your username. If you would like others to know that the earlier IP edits were yours, you can mention this on your user page, but the edit history itself cannot be changed.
- I hope this helps. Feel free to ask if you have any other questions about editing Wikipedia.
- Best wishes, Ampimd (talk) 08:04, 20 June 2026 (UTC)
Question from PureLogicRat77 (17:27, 4 June 2026)
[edit source]Hi...How do you know what is a good source, especially when it comes to newspapers and magazines. Thanks --PureLogicRat77 (talk) 17:27, 4 June 2026 (UTC)
- Hello,
- That's a great question. On Wikipedia, a good source is generally one that has a reputation for fact-checking, editorial oversight, and accuracy. Reliable sources are usually published by established newspapers, magazines, academic journals, books from reputable publishers, and respected organizations.
- When evaluating a newspaper or magazine, you can ask:
- Does it have professional editors and fact-checking procedures?
- Is it known for accurate reporting?
- Is the article reporting facts, or is it an opinion piece?
- Is the source independent of the topic being discussed?
- Not all articles from a reliable publication are equally useful. For example, news reports are often better for factual information, while opinion columns should generally only be used to attribute the author's views.
- If you are unsure about a particular source, you can check WP:RSP, which contains community discussions about the reliability of many commonly used sources.
- You may also find these pages helpful:
- If you have a specific source in mind, feel free to share it and I can help explain whether it is likely to be considered reliable on Wikipedia.
- Best wishes, Ampimd (talk) 08:05, 20 June 2026 (UTC)
Question from CaydenStorm (03:58, 20 June 2026)
[edit source]How can I add and edit citations? --CaydenStorm (talk) 03:58, 20 June 2026 (UTC)
- Hello,
- Adding citations is an important part of editing Wikipedia because it helps verify the information you add.
- If you are using the Visual Editor:
- Place your cursor where you want the citation to appear.
- Click the Cite button in the toolbar.
- Choose an appropriate source type (website, book, journal, etc.).
- Enter the source details and insert the citation.
- If you are using source editing, citations are usually added using <ref>...</ref> tags, for example:
- :Wikipedia was launched in 2001.<ref>Author, ''Title'', Publisher, Date.</ref> :
- To edit an existing citation, click on the reference in Visual Editor or edit the text between the <ref>...</ref> tags in source mode.
- You may find these guides helpful:
- If you would like, you can tell me whether you use the Visual Editor or Source Editor, and I can provide more specific guidance.
- Best wishes, Ampimd (talk) 08:07, 20 June 2026 (UTC)
Question from Pwnstuone (11:22, 24 June 2026)
[edit source]Hi mentor I'm on Draft:Appinventiv and would appreciate feedback on whether the current sources establish notability, and whether any sections still read as promotional or rely heavily on primary sources. can you help in cleanup this draft and how to go forward? --Pwnstuone (talk) 11:22, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
Question from Takian PY (12:42, 24 June 2026)
[edit source]Hello,
I am closely following a Bangladeshi painter. He has been holding solo and group exhibitions in prominent places in Dhaka . He also has an art-school. There are several news-reports on him too.
Is it okay for me to build a wikipedia entry for him? There already is a wikipedia page on him in Bengali. --Takian PY (talk) 12:42, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
- Hello @Takian PY,
- Possibly, yes — but the key question is not whether the person is an artist or already has a Bengali Wikipedia article. The main question is whether they meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines.
- For an artist, you would generally need significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources. News reports, magazine features, interviews, reviews of exhibitions, and coverage by reputable media outlets can all help, provided they discuss the artist in some detail and are not simply announcements or promotional pieces.
- Holding solo and group exhibitions, operating an art school, and having media coverage are all positive indicators, but you should carefully assess the sources to determine whether they provide substantial independent coverage rather than routine event listings or publicity.
- The existence of a Bengali Wikipedia article does not automatically mean the subject qualifies for an English Wikipedia article, although it may be a useful starting point for finding sources.
- Before creating the article, I would recommend gathering the strongest independent sources available and reviewing the guidance at WP:ARTIST and the general notability guideline (WP:GNG). If the available sources provide significant coverage, then creating an article may be appropriate.
- If you'd like, you can share a few of the sources here and editors can help assess whether they are sufficient for notability.
- Best, wishes Ampimd (talk) 17:53, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
Question from GrassTHEGrass12 (16:52, 24 June 2026)
[edit source]How can I find specific information about non-mainstream music genres without looking at Fandom Wiki or Youtube videos? --GrassTHEGrass12 (talk) 16:52, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
- Hello @GrassTHEGrass12,
- That depends a bit on the genre you're researching, but some good places to start are books, academic publications, music magazines, newspaper archives, and library databases. These often provide more detailed and reliable information than fan-created sites.
- You can also search for interviews with musicians, producers, or music historians, as well as articles from established music publications. If you're researching a genre for Wikipedia, reliable independent secondary sources are usually the most useful.
- Could you tell me which genre you're interested in? The answer may vary depending on whether it's a widely studied genre, a regional genre, or a more recent music movement. Ampimd (talk) 17:58, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

Question from StickJockey786 (01:56, 9 July 2026)
[edit source]Hello @Ampimd, you assigned my mentor, yesterday I uploaded images on wikimedia commons with the license (CC0), the are used on the article of K2 Airways Flight 1732 and quite a few other ones. It is nominated for removal because it does not provide enough information. The images were posted on X by Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority, and that post is the only source of those images, it does not state who took them. Now I don't have a problem with their removal, but should I remove it myself or let them? --StickJockey786 (talk) 01:56, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
- StickJockey786, I think you might've missed Ampimd just as they stepped away on a break. They should be back soon. The images have already been removed. Mathglot (talk) 23:09, 25 July 2026 (UTC)
You're invited to the Mentorship noticeboard
[edit source]Hi, Ampimd. You are cordially invited to the Wikipedia:Mentorship noticeboard. I get the impression sometimes that we mentors are each toiling in our own backyard, quietly answering mentee questions with little to no interaction with other mentors. I think we have a lot to share and learn from each other, and and that's what the board is for. I realize you have been on a break, but that's okay; your input would be valuable. Please take the § Survey when you get there. Looking forward to hearing your feedback! Mathglot (talk) 00:18, 26 July 2026 (UTC)
