@Liz: I am not sure whether this was technically "my draft". I believe I separated it out from the draft on Henry Gordon Thunder, Sr. because there was a confusion of father and son that was made by FloridaArmy (talk · contribs). I rewrote the article on the senior member of the family and left the draft on Henry Gordon Thunder, Jr. for FlordiaArmy to finish/work on as that user wanted to. You might want to make that editor aware of the deletion, because I personally think of this article as FlordiaArmy's project. Best.4meter4 (talk) 16:53, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

Comments on recent AFD

Anybody looking at the article history can see you (Hurricanehink specifically) chopped more than half of the prose out of that article. Pretending like there weren't major chunks of content removed, and acting like you didn't gut the article when the history demonstrates the opposite makes you look dishonest. Quit gaslighting. The editing history is crystal clear that you gutted that page. Now whether or not that content should have been removed is another matter. There could have been very good reasons to removed that content. I didn't look closely enough at the sources to make assessment. That said, I am suspicious of GA article being trimmed in half and then being brought forward into a merge proposal. This doesn't seem like good faith editing.

I'd like to reply to this, since the AFD was closed. You said I chopped/gutted these pages. But then you said you didn't look closely enough to make that assessment. Here is an example for what was in the Gilda article that I "gutted".

• "With the possibility of the western track, the storm was remarked as being the first serious hurricane threat for southern Florida since Hurricane Gladys in 1968. However, after formation the depression moved slowly north-northeastward"
• "The highest amount measured in a 24‑hour period within Jamaica was 411 millimetres (16.2 in), which triggered many landslides across eastern sections of the island.[4] The rains produced landslides" - I'm glad the article specified twice that the rains caused landslides. Riveting information.
• "The storm did not have significant impact in Cuba." (before describing the impacts)
• "Over the western Atlantic Ocean, the storm produced strong winds and rough seas. One ship reported a wave height of 28 ft (8.5 m), though no significant marine losses were reported. "
• "Tropical Storm Gilda was notable as being the first observed tropical cyclone to transition into a subtropical cyclone; several subtropical cyclones have undergone tropical cyclogenesis, but never the opposite. Since Gilda, a few other storms accomplished the feat. In 1980, a tropical depression dissipated, reformed as a subtropical depression, and later became Hurricane Georges over the open Atlantic Ocean. The next year, Tropical Storm Jose became subtropical near the end of its duration, and in 1984, Hurricane Klaus became a subtropical storm over the western Atlantic Ocean. In 2001, Tropical Storm Allison, after causing devastating flooding in Texas, became a subtropical storm over the Gulf of Mexico and moved across much of the southeastern United States.[3] In 2011, Tropical Storm Lee transitioned into a subtropical storm while approaching Louisiana."
