Strahan Hell's Gates Cradle Mt. Stanley Strahan & Macquarie Harbour, Tasmania. I find the unspoilt beauty of the World Heritage areas on the West Coast of Tasmania to be one of the most idyllic places in the world. Significant attractions in the area include: Hell's Gates is the name of the mouth of Macquarie Harbour. The Macquarie Harbour Penal Station was a notorious British penal settlement established on Sarah Island in the southern portion of Macquarie Harbour in what was Van Diemen's Land in (Tasmania), Australia. Strahan (pronounced "straw-n"), is a pretty little town and significant tourist destination on the north-east end of Long Bay on the northern end of Macquarie Harbour. Stanley is a tourist destination and the main fishing port on the north-west coast of Tasmania. The most distinctive landmark in Stanley is The Nut, an old volcanic plug discovered by the explorers Bass and Flinders in 1798, who officially named it Circular Head. It has steep sides and rises to 143 metres with a flat top. It is possible to walk to the top of The Nut via a steep track.

Cape du Couedic Vivonne Bay Kangaroo Island, South Australia. Kangaroo Island is another place of unspoilt beauty. It is Australia's third-largest island after Tasmania and Melville Island. It is 112 kilometres (70 mi) southwest of Adelaide at the entrance of Gulf St Vincent. At its closest point to the mainland, it is 13 kilometres (8 miles) offshore from Cape Jervis, on the tip of the Fleurieu Peninsula in the state of South Australia. The island is 150 km (93 mi) long and 57 km (35 mi) wide. It is separated from Yorke Peninsula to the northwest by Investigator Strait and from Cape Jervis to the northeast by Backstairs Passage. Significant features attractions on the island include: Seal Bay with ranger guided walks among basking Australian sea lions. Flinders Chase National Park which includes Remarkable Rocks, Admiral's Arch, lighthouses at Cape Borda and Cape du Couedic, and multiple walking trails and camping areas. Vivonne Bay - In a survey of 10,000 beaches by Professor Andrew Short, director of Sydney University's marine studies centre, the beach at Vivonne Bay was adjudged as the best in Australia.. Cape Willoughby Kelly Hill Caves in the Kelly Hill Conservation Park Little Sahara, huge sand dunes on the south coast. the lookout Mount Thisby (officially designated Prospect Hill in 2002 to honour Matthew Flinders' original naming) with a 360 degree view around the island. Murray Lagoon with its abundant aquatic bird life. Parndana Wildlife Park Kangaroo Island Penguin Centre (formerly Kangaroo Island Marine Centre) at Kingscote.
