Edwin Chidubem Meshach (born 12 June 2003), professionally known as Boi Genesis, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer from Odume in Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State, Nigeria. His music incorporates elements of Afrobeats, Afro-fusion, hip hop, drill, R&B, and melodic rap. In addition to his work as a recording artist, he has released music production instrumentals through online platforms.[1]
Early life
[edit]Edwin Chidubem Meshach was born on 12 June 2003 in Odume, Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State, Nigeria. He developed an interest in music at an early age, drawing inspiration from contemporary Nigerian artists, international hip hop and pop musicians, and traditional Igbo highlife music.
Career
[edit]Boi Genesis began his career as a music producer, creating Afrobeat, Afropop, dancehall, trap, and hip hop instrumentals for artists and content creators. His production work has been published on Instrumentals.com.ng.[2] He later transitioned into recording as a solo artist, independently releasing music on digital streaming platforms. His debut project, The Boi Genesis Era, includes the songs "Halleluyah", "Level Level", "Make We Dey Go", "F.M.H (Fall My Hand)", "Kulu Down", "Ifem Ga Bu", "A Better Life", "Gba", and "Owole" featuring Slimzy Pee.[3] In 2024, Boi Genesis released the singles Save a Life, Kiss n Tell, Had I Know, and Next Life, continuing to expand his catalogue as an independent artist.[4] In addition to audio streaming platforms, Boi Genesis distributes music videos and other audiovisual content through his official YouTube channel.[5]
Musical style
[edit]Boi Genesis combines Afrobeats with elements of Afro-fusion, hip hop, drill, R&B, and melodic rap. He has cited Wizkid, Billie Eilish, Eminem, 2Baba, Dr. Dre, and traditional Igbo highlife musicians as musical influences.
