I am Leith42 (Wikipedia username: ArpgLife), a lifelong gamer and coder, occasional guide/review writer, and more recently, game-development hobbyist, and content creator. My journey began in the earliest days of home computing on systems like Atari 2600, TRS-80, C64, and PC jr. playing classics like Zork, Temple of Apshai, Ultima III: Exodus , The Bard's Tale and Rogue.
That early exposure sparked a passion for gaming in general and for action role-playing games (ARPGs) and roguelikes in particular that has only grown stronger over four decades.
As a fledgling game dev and the founder and operator of a community-driven gaming site dedicated to the discovery, discussion, celebration, and preservation of Action Role-Playing Games — I have sought to bolster my first hand gaming knowledge by conducting extensive research into the genre’s history, mechanics, cultural influences, indie development scene, and evolution from its roguelike roots to today’s AAA and indie titles.
In addition to running arpg.life, I create gameplay and tutorial content, write occasional guides and reviews, and work on my own hobby game project, a 2D dungeon-crawler/roguelike built with a hand coded JavaScript ECS game engine. I bring a professional coder’s perspective — with more than 30 years of experience building websites and applications — to everything I do in the ARPG space.
On Wikipedia I am especially eager to contribute accurate, well-sourced information to articles on the ARPG and roguelike genres, their history, notable titles, developers, and broader gaming culture. I believe thorough documentation helps preserve this rich heritage for future generations of players and developers. Feel free to reach out on my talk page if you have questions, suggestions, or want to collaborate on ARPG-related improvements.
