DJ X
[edit]So I can only find rather limited info, but I definitely feel that Spotify's AI voiced "DJ" deserves some mention, if not its own Wikipedia article. It's been in open beta for like three years now. I know the actual person's name that the AI voice is modeled after is named Xavier Jernigan. I think he's a Spotify employee. Splitting proposal
[edit]The current article is over 12,000 words and 79,000 characters long. It covers several substantial subjects, including Spotify's history, its corporate affairs, and the Spotify software and streaming service itself.
Wikipedia:Article size advises considering subdivision when an article becomes excessively long, particularly where sections can be developed as more focused articles. Wikipedia:Splitting similarly provides for splitting sections that are sufficiently large, well-sourced, and able to stand on their own.
I propose the following two splits to reduce the length of the main article and give these subjects more focused treatment. Something like:
1) History of Spotify
[edit]I propose that the Spotify#History section be split into a separate article, History of Spotify.
The section contains a substantial chronological account of Spotify's founding, expansion, growth, acquisitions, podcasting strategy, partnerships, and other developments. Moving the detailed chronology to a dedicated article would allow Spotify to retain a concise history while avoiding an excessively long treatment of historical material in the main article.
Proposed split: Spotify#History → History of Spotify
2) Spotify (streaming service)
[edit]I propose that the material describing Spotify's software and streaming service be split into a separate article, Spotify (streaming service).
The article contains extensive material on platforms and devices, features, playlists and discovery, listening limitations, technical information, Car Thing, security, and social functionality. These sections collectively constitute a substantial and coherent subject concerning the product and service itself, distinct from the history and corporate affairs of the company.
Moving this material to a dedicated article would allow Spotify to retain a concise description of the service while substantially reducing the length of the main article.
Proposed split: software/service-related sections of Spotify → Spotify (streaming service) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Officialworks (talk • contribs) 16:52, 9 August 2026 (UTC)
- Surely the Spotify service that is used by many everyday is more notable than the company and therefore should be primary topic? Inpops (talk) 07:37, 14 August 2026 (UTC)
