Changes to me made Com 453

The first change that needs to happen on this page is the addition of historical context. The page immediately begins to explain what media manipulation is helpful but then jumps right into modern media. We don't know how long media manipulation has occurred and what forms it has taken in the past that allowed it to evolve to what is currently happening in media.  

The second change that needs to happen on this page is more structural, but the beginning of every section is very brief and abrupt. Even the introduction section when first reading the page, is not a smooth start to the information and has many grammatical errors along with the issues of rushing the introduction which sets the tone for the entire page. For example, there are run Ons in the first paragraph. It is rushed and needs more detail. Along with other small edits to the paragraph structures throughout the entire piece.

The third change that should happen for this page is expanding each subsection in the contexts section. There are many different examples that help to explain how media manipulation occurs across different mediums, which I do think is very useful for the page, but each section is brief and lacks good examples. So, I think the sections: advertising, hoaxing and public relations should be added to and expanded on. Also, in relation to the contexts section, it needs to be introduced and at least explain what will be contributing to the audiences’ experience in reading about media manipulation.

The fourth change that needs to happen on the page is like the last change I want to make, but the entire techniques section needs more detail for each subsection as well. There needs to be an introductory paragraph to the entire techniques section. Sections to be edited include: deepfakes, astroturfing, information laundering, voice replication, photo and video manipulation as well. All these sections not only need more information but overall, more detail and relation to the subject at hand

The fifth change that needs to happen for this page is the last paragraph as a whole. Although it is a conclusion and is being used to wrap it all up, it introduces another example and doesn't elaborate on it. So for this change I want to add more to conclude like revisiting ALL concepts visited briefly, to connect it back, but also pizza gate was brought up at the end which I think is a good current example to connect it all together and make it click, but I want to maybe start the conclusion by utilizing it as a hook, and something to think about, and the follow it with a well written concluding statement.

The sixth and final change I want to make to the page is utilizing more pictures. This subject of media manipulation is such an interesting and rich topic that has so many examples in history and the current day. Because of this, there are plenty of videos and pictures that help expand and explain what the examples and definitions of differing manipulation tactics are. Pictures not only keep audiences entertained, but it also explains what something like deepfakes is by seeing what it looks like and not just describing it. But not just deepfakes need a good picture to make it all click, but every single subsection with example should include some sort of picture to put it in perspective.
