And? That year is not mentioned anywhere in the article. See WP:TALK#COMMUNICATE. -Fnlayson (talk) 01:12, 16 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

[edit]

Why is an ENIAC computer used to illustrate this topic? ENIAC was used for much more computationally intensive tasks than the mechanical design of the time. Some simple analog devices would be a better symbol if the 1950s is what we are about. Викидим (talk) 02:48, 30 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

No idea really. An IP user added that recently. Now is a good time to remove it (thanks for reminder). -Fnlayson (talk) 02:52, 30 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Lead image

[edit]

Several attempts have been made to remove the lead image, and now to replace it by user:MustaqAD48. The original image File:Mechanical_components.png shows a variety of mechanical components, while the replacement image File:Mechanical_Engineering_Background_Image.jpg (uploaded by MustaqAD48) shows a geartrain. I believe the original image is superior since it shows more than just gears.

Not also that it is impossible to verify the claim that the new image is CC4.0 as the image copyright is not owned by the uploader, and the author is listed as "Pexels Pixabay" and the source as "Mechanical engineering". Meters (talk) 07:06, 21 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Found it on a free image site but license does not seem compatible. Nominated for deletion at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/File:Mechanical_Engineering_Background_Image.jpg#File%3AMechanical_Engineering_Background_Image.jpg 07:46, 21 July 2025 (UTC)
