Iphone 3G
[edit]It is stated in the devices section that Iphone 3G is dicontinued. I was wondering if this was about the hardware being discontinued or the software. If it is talking about hardware, then everything besides iphone 4, ipod touch 4G, and the Ipads (and maybe Iphone 3GS) should say discontinued. If it's about software, that is wrong. The latest softwares are still supported by Iphone 3G. Please correct this.

Should all the jailbreakable *OS be mentioned at the introduction?
[edit]I changed iOS and iPadOS-based at the start of the article to iOS and iOS-based as nothing is based on iPadOS, and iPadOS is iOS based. I did this instead of mentioning all the *OS (and giving references to each of them to prove they are jailbreakable) as that would clutter up the introduction. Updating the lead to reflect modern iOS security (PAC, PPL, and SSV)
[edit]I've updated the first paragraph because the previous version was seriously outdated. It was still talking about 'kernel patches' and 'custom firmware' from the 2011 era, which is technically wrong for modern devices.
About the sources:
I’m restoring the citations to The Apple Wiki. I know it’s a wiki, but in the jailbreak community, it is the primary technical archive. It's maintained by the actual experts and developers in this field, like IAdam1n and ROSeaboyer. Per Wikipedia’s own rules (WP:SPS), specialized sources from established experts are allowed when they are the only ones providing this level of technical detail.
The info I added, like PAC and PPL bypasses and the rootless path in /private/preboot, is the actual standard for how tools like Dopamine and palera1n work today. You can verify all of this in The Apple Wiki's article about jailbreaking. (https://theapplewiki.com/wiki/Jailbreak) Removing this info just makes the article inaccurate. It's better to have the actual technical facts than to leave up old info that doesn't apply to iPhones made in the last 6 years. Jrybit82 (talk) 06:45, 29 March 2026 (UTC)
