Historic vs Historical

Several places in the the article, particularly in the Academic Role section, use "historic" where I would have used "historical". I looked at the Wiktionary entry for historic, but the usage notes focus on the difference between "noteworthy, of great importance" (historic) and "occurring in / associated with the past" (historical). Is "historic" also used as an adjective to describe things associated with the academic field of history? Is there another word, one with a more specific meaning, thet could be used instead? The page for History only uses "historic" in the sense described above, not to mean "of or relating to the academic field of history". Pauldebarros (talk) 12:16, 30 November 2025 (UTC)
