What is BMC?
[edit]The lede says it's a computer architecture but there's no further mention of architecture. Most of the article seems to be a rehash of bare machines. However, the article claims that BMC systems run general purpose software and that BMC doesn't apply to embedded processors. Taken together, this is all very confusing.
My impression is that the article is really about an object oriented programming methodology that's suited to bare machines. This hypothesis is supported by the excessive list of research papers about various implementations of said methodology which are used as references. Lambtron talk 16:58, 8 February 2026 (UTC)
- After reviewing the research papers, I'm convinced that the main topic here is "dispersed operating system computing" (DOSC), which essentially consists of embedding the OS in "application objects". As such, it would seem to be more closely related to distributed operating system than bare machine. If no one objects or has a better idea, I plan to move relevant content there and redirect this article to bare machine. Lambtron talk 16:57, 10 February 2026 (UTC)
