General comments

This is a very well-written and thoroughly researched article. The game summaries are detailed and engaging without being play-by-play recaps, the offseason and draft sections provide excellent long-term context for player acquisitions, and the sourcing is outstanding throughout. The only issues are a handful of typos and what appear to be minor factual/dating errors.

Criterion 1a: Prose quality

The prose is strong throughout. The game summaries are particularly well done: they vary in structure, give a clear sense of how each game unfolded, and highlight notable individual performances without descending into play-by-play. The offseason section reads naturally and does an excellent job of contextualising the significance of arrivals and departures. A few issues:

Typos

• Week 5 preseason: "Matthews put broke a 10–10 tie" : "put" should be removed. Should read "Matthews broke a 10–10 tie".
• Week 14: "Morris went around left ned for 20 more" : should be "left end".

Possible dating errors

• Offseason, departures and arrivals: "though he retired after only one season in San Diego" is cited to a source dated "7 April 1976". If Morris played the 1976 season, the retirement announcement would logically be from April 1977. The source citation reads {{{1}}} but the newspaper may actually be dated 7 April 1977. Worth double-checking.
• Offseason, departures and arrivals: "Joiner had spent three and a half seasons in Houston before playing with the Bengals for the same length of time." : Joiner's PFR page shows him in Houston from 1969 to mid-1972 (roughly three and a half seasons), then in Cincinnati from 1972 to 1975 (also roughly three and a half). This checks out, but "the same length of time" could be slightly clearer. Consider "before spending the same period with the Bengals" or simply stating the years.

Minor prose points

• Week 2 game summary: "Fritch ended a third consecutive drive with a failed field goal" : "Fritch" should be "Fritsch" (typo, missing the 's').
• Week 9 game summary: "Mitchell, who gained over 200 yards rushing and receiving, joined the Chargers two season later." : "two seasons later" (missing plural).
• Lead: "two to division rival Denver" : reads slightly awkwardly. "two to division rivals Denver" or "two against division rival Denver" would be smoother.
• Week 12 game summary, scoring summary: The running score in the scoring breakdown appears to be wrong. The first Charger touchdown shows "Chargers 6–0" (suggesting a missed extra point), then later the score reads "Chiefs 16–13" and "Chargers 13–9". Looking at the quarter scores (SDG: 7-6-0-7 = 20), the first touchdown should show "Chargers 7–0" since Wersching converted the kick. The running scores in the scoring breakdown appear to have been carried forward incorrectly from this initial error.

Consistency

• The article uses both "catch-and-run" (hyphenated) and "catch and run" (unhyphenated) at different points. Minor, but worth standardising.

• Section structure is logical and well-organised.

The article stays focused throughout. The game summaries are detailed but proportionate.
