Change all instances of ''%s'' to "%s". This template is attempting to create italics in short descriptions, which is unfortunately impossible (wiki markup doesn't work in short descriptions). Sdrqaz (talk) 01:26, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
- What about removing the quotation marks entirely and just using
%s? This seems to be the prevailing style for "Fictional character in $media" short descriptions, and is most simple. — Goszei (talk) 01:30, 14 May 2021 (UTC)- If you think that's best, I have no objections; I just dislike having a broken double single inverted comma across all these pages. Sdrqaz (talk) 01:37, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
- I agree that the status quo is bad. To the TPER responder: if no one else weighs in here, how about we try my solution? — Goszei (talk) 02:19, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
- If it's not rendered, it can be removed. It can always be brought back if it becomes enabled. --Gonnym (talk) 10:24, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

- I have removed all of the non-working italic markup that I could find. Ping me if it is still rendering somewhere. – Jonesey95 (talk) 13:07, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Jonesey95: It appears to be still rendering on pages like Lisa with an 'S'. Sdrqaz (talk) 13:40, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
- Do a null save. --Gonnym (talk) 14:27, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
- Appears to be working now, thanks. I had purged the cache multiple times before, so I wasn't sure why it wasn't working. Sdrqaz (talk) 14:45, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
- I had the same challenge. A purge is usually sufficient to refresh a page, but I had to do a null edit (click edit and then publish without changing anything) to get the pages to refresh. The job queue will refresh all of them eventually (it can take from minutes to months, depending on the job queue's mood). – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:51, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

The function getShortDescriptionSpecialEpisode
(starting at line 212) needs to uppercase the first letter of the SD. Currently, a redirect for the pilot episode having special=pilot will generate a SD starting with a lowercase letter. Lack of automatic category
[edit]Is there a reason as to why this template is not automatically adding Category:South Park episode redirects to lists to Wok Is Dead? -- Alex_21 TALK 22:53, 19 October 2025 (UTC)
- You meant {{Television episode redirect handler}}. The reason was the category was a redirect. Gonnym (talk) 05:22, 20 October 2025 (UTC)
- The category was changed to a redirect at CfD by User:Fayenatic london. Gonnym (talk) 05:23, 20 October 2025 (UTC)
- That was because there was only one member at the time of Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2025_June_6#Animated_television_series_episode_redirects_to_lists. I'm pleased to see that as there is now more content, the category has been reinstated. – Fayenatic London 14:30, 20 October 2025 (UTC)
- I honestly can't remember how I ended up at this talk page instead of that one. Whoops. Thank you for the clarification, though! -- Alex_21 TALK 20:30, 20 October 2025 (UTC)

Error found with limited_series
[edit]While using
- Code:
{{Television episode short description|series_name=Lost: Missing Pieces|limited_series=yes|episode_num=1}}
I got this error message:
> Preview warning: Page using Template:Television episode short description with unknown parameter "limited_series"
I hope this is the right place to warn the template coders. Cheers. — Itzcuauhtli11 (talk) 15:45, 20 October 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, that parameter isn't supported.
|limited=is the correct one. Gonnym (talk) 15:51, 20 October 2025 (UTC)- I've corrected the template docs. Thank you. — Itzcuauhtli11 (talk) 19:10, 20 October 2025 (UTC)
