It looks like the hidden comment part is there for all links - the template currently renders in wikicode like this according to it's documentation (one space added to defeat edit filter), which includes the information about the archive.today link.

Bot edit to add this template caused formatting change (italics to two ' marks)

Please see this edit, in which the bot changed the rendered output of a citation title from italicized to surrounded by two ' marks. I believe that this change may have been caused by code in the module. – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:47, 7 August 2026 (UTC)

Quick check on html titles

Links containing embedded html may be safer than I expected. This contains a span: Example.com generated title^{[link removed]} Dw31415 (talk) 03:02, 14 August 2026 (UTC)
