Notes
[edit]- 1 2 /ɾ/ can surface as a trill [r] in word-initial and syllable-final positions. Geminate /ɾː/ is always a trill.
- ↑ When preceding a vowel in word-initial positions, /w/ may occur as an allophone of /o/ and /u/, especially in loan words e.g. ꠅꠣꠖꠣ [wada] 'promise', ꠅꠤꠟꠤꠀꠝ [wiliam] 'William', ꠅꠦꠛꠍꠣꠁꠐ [websait] 'Website'.
- ↑ Closer to fat in most British and Irish accents; closer to father in most North American, Australian and New Zealand accents.
- 1 2 Primary stress usually occurs in word-initial positions with secondary stress occurring afterwards.
