Hallerella is a genus of strictly anaerobic, rod-shaped bacteria in the family Fibrobacteraceae. The type species is Hallerella porci.[1] Both recognized species were isolated from the caeca of pigs.[2]
Taxonomy
[edit]The genus contains two species with validly published names: H. porci and H. succinigenes.[1] Its name honours microbiologist Dirk Haller for his research on interactions between intestinal microorganisms and their hosts.[1]
